Alberta Mae Mercer , age 83 of Stockton, IL passed away Monday, August 31, 2020 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. She was born June 5, 1937 in Hanover, IL to the late Ross and Iona (Ehredt) Potter. Alberta married Keith N. Mercer on June 25, 1955 in Hanover. Keith N. passed away on March 10, 2003.

Alberta was a graduate of Hanover High School. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Massbach. She had helped her husband on the farm. Alberta enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking, raising chickens and playing in creeks with the grandkids.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lori Mercer of Elizabeth; her grandchildren, Trista (Zach) David of Dubuque, IA, Tony (Anna) Mercer of Stockton, Travis Mercer of Clinton, IA, Evan Mercer of CO, and Jennifer Marks of Elizabeth; her great grandchildren, Abigale David, Aadilynn David, Anestyn David, Payne Mercer, Breyen Mercer and Jazzilynn Mercer; her sister, Arletta Maeder; her sister-in-law, Shirley Potter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her three sons, Keith Eric, Nathan, and Mark; her grandson, Bradley; her brother, Robert Potter; and her brother-in-law, Gene Maeder.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date.
