Arthur C. West, age 87 of Lake Carroll, died Wednesday April 20, 2011 at Liberty Village in Freeport, IL. He was born July 20, 1923 in Chicago, IL the son of the late Arthur & Clara (Mudlaff) West. He married Dorothy R. Wisnewski on March 17, 1945 she died April 15, 1998 and Arthur married Erna Dowdell on July 2, 2002. He was a Corporal in the 482nd US Army Air Force during WWII. He had retired from Loyola University. His memberships included St Wendelin's Catholic Church in Shannon where he was a 4th degree member of the Knight's Of Columbus and the Lake Carroll Fishing Club. He is survived by his wife Erna of Freeport, 4-son's Arthur C. West of Austin TX, Timothy (Susan) West of North Aurora, IL, Robert (Tippy) West of Plainfield, IL and Phillip (Maryanne) West of Downers Grove, IL, Daughter Mary (Jim) Cosens of Windsor, CO, Brother; Ken (Frances) West of Nashville, TN, Sister; Marjorie (Bill) Gloor of Viera Beach, FL, 9 Grandchildren & 8 Great Grandchildren. He ws preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, daughter Dorothy Clare, & sister Elaine. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at St. Wendelin's Catholic Church in Shannon, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Hermann Funeral Home in Shannon where a prayer service will be conducted by the Knights Of Columbus at 8:00 PM and also one hour before service at the church on Wednesday.
