Obituary

Arlene J. (Talaronek) Powers , age 62, grew up in the Western Suburbs. She was introduced to the Stockton Area by her college roommate, Pauline (Heath) Craig. After years of dreaming of living in the country, Arlene bought her Stone house in Willow Valley where she lived the Dream.

She was born on November 27, 1952 (Thanksgiving Day) and died Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Arlene graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Degree in Art History, and also as a CPA. Her working career was spent in the accounting field, both public and private. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, interior design, her dogs and chickens, Jeopardy and Sudoku puzzles, and always wanted to have some sheep. Arlene's words of advice were "never lose your sense of humor." She maintained hers until the end.

Arlene is survived by her sister, Carol Talaronek of Evanston, IL; her uncle & aunt, Edwin and Dorothy Malacha of AZ; cousins; nieces and nephews; and her wonderful dog, Carlos. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Powers, and her parents, Joseph & Virginia Talaronek.

A visitation will be held Thursday, February 12th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton, IL. The funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13th at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home; Pastor Brenda Morris presiding. Arlene's final resting place will be in Wards Grove Cemetery of Kent, IL. Rather than a memorial fund, Arlene would prefer that donations be made to Tyler's Justice Center in her honor: 408 E. North Ave, Stockton, IL 61085.
