Arthur C. Wilkosz, age 89 of Freeport, IL, died Tuesday November 29, 2011 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. He was born June 5, 1922, the son of Waldo and Eva (Ciencala) Wilkosz. Arthur and Beverly Cameron were married on October 3, 1953, and lived in Las Vegas, NV for over 35 years, but relocated to Freeport a few years ago. He retired from EG and G where he was a design engineer.
Arthur graduated from J. Sterling Morton High School and attended Morton Jr. College in Cicero, IL. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was wounded three times while in combat in France and Germany and was a member of Disabled Veterans. Arthur and Beverly were employed by the Atomic Energy Commission in Las Alamos, NM for several years prior to moving to Nevada. He enjoyed the outdoors and the Nevada desert. He has also and avid Chicago Bears fan.
Arthur is survived by his wife Beverly; two brothers Walter (Jean) Wilkosz and Otto (Angela) Wilkosz; sister-in-law Marilyn Philp; six nephews, Ralph Wilkosz, Robert Wilkosz, Steven Wilkosz, Scott Patterson, Brian Patterson, and David Skerik; three nieves, Linda (Wilkosz) White, Susan (Brian) Cole, and Kelly (Terry) Paul; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, nephew Greg Wilkosz, his parents-in-law Max and Evelyn Andrews; two sisters-in-law, Jean Patterson and Roberta Skerik; three brothers-in-law, George Patterson, Raleigh Philp, and Thomas Skerik.
Graveside services were held at Mt. Auburn Memorial Cemetery in Stickney, IL on Friday December 2, 2011. A memorial fund has been established. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hermannfuneralhome.com
