Carol J. Korte, age 73 of Apple Canyon Lake, IL, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at home. She was born June 25, 1939, the daughter of Ora and Leone (Spencer) Frazier. Carol was a 1957 graduate of Stockton High School, she then attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. She received her Masters Degree from St. Louis University. She married Harold Korte August 30, 1958.
Carol was a member of the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Racine, WI. She was also a member of the National Education Association and the County Conservation Board. As a teenager she was involved in the Rainbow Girls, 4-H, and horseback riding. Carol was a librarian for over thirty years at the Racine Unified School District in Racine, WI, and was a passionate advocate for her students at Washington Park High School. She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, bird watching, walking, hiking, boating, and fishing at the Apple Canyon Lake. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, making pies, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to entertain.
She is survived by her husband Harold "Chris"; daughter Allison Korte of Racine, WI; son Brent (Robin) Korte of San Francisco, CA; six grandchildren, Abigail Leone, Alec Spencer, Ethan Christopher, Skye Ember, Camille Cynthia, and Wesley Christopher; and brother Kenneth (Shirley) Frazier.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton. There will be a visitation prior to the service beginning at 9:00 AM. A memorial fund has been established for the Alzheimer's Society.
