Carol Ann Woessner , age 88, of Shannon, IL passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Oakley Courts Assisted Living in Freeport. She was born in Shannon on October 3, 1936 to the late Lloyd and Kathryn (Crouse) Edler. Carol married James Woessner on March 29, 1957. James passed away March 19, 2003.
Carol was a 1954 graduate of Shannon High School. She was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon where she was very active, she taught second grade Sunday School and served on several committees. She also loved to play dominoes at the Church on Thursdays. Carol farmed with her husband. She loved to cook and collected cookbooks, loved to take drives in the country, and watch dogs play at the dog park. She also loved to read and spend time at the Lanark Library.
Carol is survived by her son, William (Sally) Woessner of Shannon; her granddaughter, Kathryn Woessner of Lafayette, CO; her grandson, Samuel Woessner of Oak Park, IL; her brother, Lynn Edler of FL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her two daughters, Ann and Lisa; her two brothers, Rex and Max; and her daugher-in-law, Nola Goeke Woessner.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Bethel United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Brethren Cemetery in Shannon. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
