Carolyn A. Byington
, age 93 of Shannon, IL, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Liberty Village in Freeport, IL. She was born October 7, 1921; the daughter of the late William and Laura (Moring) Nesemeier. She was a graduate of Shannon High School. Carolyn married Loral Byington on December 6, 1941 in Prairie Dell; he died April 7, 2008.
After their marriage, Carolyn farmed along side her husband, and resided on the family farm. They were both members of the Flying Farmers. Carolyn was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Shannon and was active in the United Methodist Women. She loved gardening, both flowers and vegetable. She also enjoyed bird watching and music, especially playing the piano. Most of all Carolyn loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a very important part of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Guido) Ledergerber of Walnut, IL; three sons, Rhett (Rebecca) Byington of Big Rock, IL, Gene (Nancy) Byington of Lanark, IL, and Alan Byington of Shannon; nine grandchildren; Beau (Lynn) Byington, Jarrod (Lindsay) Byington, Brenda (Pete) Holm, Ryan (Tricia) Byington, Brooke (Grant) Jamison, Ashlie (Josh) Myers, Natalie Byington, Anya (Jonathan) Barnas, Mesha (Jared Vandeventer) Ledergerber; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Jan Peterson of New Port Richey, FL; and brother, Don (Charlotte) Nesemeier of Shannon.
Carolyn in preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loral; sister, Betty Erdmier; and brother, Stan Nesemeier.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 10:30 am at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
