Darlene (Kahly) Pieper , Pearl City died Monday January 16, 2017.  She was born December 4, 1936 at her grandparent's farm to George and Beryl (Weick) Kahly.  She attended Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Freeport High School in 1954.  She then attended Concordia College River Forest.  She married Ivan Pieper on August 10, 1957.

She was a teacher's aide in the Pearl City School district for 28 years.  She was a lifelong member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and was a member of the Miriam Society and had taught Sunday School, Weekday School and was an organist.  She was a 4-H leader.  Darlene was a charter member of Pearl City Lioness Club and a member of the Pearl City Lions Club serving as president of both clubs. She was district 1D Lions Associate in 1963 and was a Melvin Jones Fellow 1995. She was also a 50+ year member of Pearl City Home Extension holding multiple offices. She was an avid quilter and was a member of the Stagecoach Quilters.  Her grandchildren will always remember their "Christmas jammies" and quilts.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Jim) Werkheiser, Lena and Janice (John) Hughes, Garland, TX; grandchildren, Jessie (Dan) Hogan, Jacob (Stacy) Werkheiser, Valerie Worrall, Catherine Worrall, Andrew (Alicia) Worrall; and great-grandchildren,  Samuel Worrall and Danica Hogan.
