David Albert Newman , age 77, of Stockton, IL passed away Friday, June 6, 2025 at FHN Hospital. He was born in Amboy, IL on April 9, 1948 to the late Daniel and Eda (Blan) Newman. Dave married Laurel Hunter on August 15, 1971. Laurel passed away on July 11, 2019.

Dave served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Stockton American Legion. Dave had worked for P&W Supply for over 25 years, Newell in Freeport, and parts delivery for Napa Auto Supply in Stockton. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and Cubs, watching his grandchildren play sports and going to the campground at Timberlake.

Dave is survived by his son, Ben (Jody) Newman of Stockton; his daughter, Tedra (Scott) Phegley of Olathe, KS; his grandchildren, Brianna, Kassidy, Zachary, Eliot and Amelia; his great grandchildren, Daphne, Ariella, Rhylen and Crue; and his brother, Don (Donna) Newman of Dixon. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son, Chad; his four sisters and one brother.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established.
