Obituary

Dennis Eugene Endress , age 93, of Pearl City, Illinois passed away on December 18, 2024 at Liberty Village in Freeport.  Born on February 5, 1931, he was the son of Oscar and Naomi (Blocher) Endress.  He graduated from Pearl City High School, Class of 1948.  Dennis married Carol Kuhlmyer in 1953 and had celebrated 65 wonderful years together before Carol passed away on May 4, 2019.

Dennis was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon. He served on the Highland Community College Board of Trustees and the Pearl City School Board. He was also Loran Township Trustee and Stephenson County 4-H and Fair Beef Superintendent. Dennis earned the Master Farmer of Illinois award in 1995. He received the HCC Delbert Scheider Legacy Lifetime Achievement Award and 4-H Family of the Year. Dennis was recognized as a Friend of Stephenson County Fair and a Friend of 4-H. He was a lover of games, especially Rook, Euchre, Dominos, Croquet and Horseshoes. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, and attending grandchildren and great-grandchildren sporting events.

Dennis is survived by his children James Endress, his children Justin (Kimberly) Diefenbach, Rachel (Shaun) Quimby, Joshua (Tiffany) Endress, Haylee (Lake) Knutti; Christeen (John) Urish, their children Kristy (Randy) Clark, Michael (Lindsey) Urish, Stephanie (Thomas) Hauser; Denise (James) Musser, their children Joel Musser, Darin (Shannon) Musser, Brett (Aubrey) Musser, Courtney Musser, Brock (Kim) Musser; Bradley (Shauna) Endress, their children Abigayle Endress, Mackenzie (Caden Kuberski) Endress; Martha (Mike) Palmer, their children Ella Kness, Mikayla Palmer, Allison (Mike Werkheiser) Palmer, Seth Palmer, Alayna (Bryson Sturtevant) Palmer; daughter-in-law Tina Endress, her children Zander Endress, Lexton Endress, Fallyn Endress; and 22 great-grandchildren, Drake, Peyton, Kayden, Brea, Jace, Kyra, Harper, Gemma, Charlotte, Landon, Shea, Sawyer, Levi, Sloane, Guinevere, Elias, Grace, Emora, Tobias, Elyanna, Kinsley, and Jonathan James.  Dennis loved when the family gathered together and there were over 60 people laughing, playing games and enjoying each other.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; his parents; his son, Lynden; his daughter-in-law, Deb Endress; and siblings Charles Endress, Robert (Carolina) Endress, Lorraine (Clarence) Dahlberg, and Jane (Thomas) Wingert.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon at 10:00 a.m. There will be a visitation on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Zion Community Church in Pearl City from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Freeport. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory to include a Highland Community College scholarship.
