Dolores "Laurie" Rae Barklow , age 74, of Freeport, IL passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Javon Bae Hospital in Rockford, IL. She was born in Freeport on November 28, 1951 to the late Ellis and Betty (Cunningham) Butts. Laurie married Marvin Barklow in October of 1977. Marvin passed away on December 17, 2011.

Laurie attended Lanark Schools. She had worked at Little John's in Pearl City. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelly McLain; her son, Brian (Michelle) Barklow; her step son, Marv Barklow, Jr.; her grandchildren, Devin Barklow, Mikki Stichter, Meghan (Alex) Kriebs and Haylee McLain; her great granddaughter, Lennon Kriebs; and her sister, Donna Butts. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her mother and father-in-law.

A private family graveside will take place at Highland Cemetery in Pearl City. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Little John's in Pearl City. A memorial fund has been established.
