Donald R. Hayes died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the University Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born December 9, 1935 in Woodbine, IL the son of the late Riley & Clara (Ertmer) Hayes. He was a 1953 graduate of Stockton High School. Don married Elaine Kehl on November 20, 1953 in Stockton.
He retired from Kraft Foods after 40 years, also had worked at Stockton Cheese, farmed and had done carpentry work. His memberships include the Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Fur Takers Association. Don loved the outdoors and was an avid trapper, enjoyed cutting wood, gardening, coin and stamp collecting. Don loved spending time with his grandchildren & great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Elaine, daughter Patricia (Dale) Wampfler, 2-son's; William (Jocelyn) Hayes of Woodbine-Stockton & Daniel (Janice) Hayes of Stockton, brother James (Diane) Hayes of Dakota, 15 grandchildren; Carrey, Emily & Ben, Nick & Jake, Michelle, Marcie, Katie, Bryan, Kayla, Brandon, Ashlynne & Heather, Megan, and Jenny. 17 great grandchildren, and daughter-in-law, Deb Hayes. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael and brothers; Orville & LaVerne.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 20, 2014 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Stockton. A memorial fund has been established.
