Dorothy Lucille Schoonhoven , age 96 of Lena, IL, passed away November 29, 2017, at the Lena Living Center. She was born January 19, 1921, in Shannon, IL; the daughter of the late William and Tillie (Groen) Fox. Dorothy married Orval Schoonhoven at Forreston Grove Church on February 12, 1942.

Dorothy was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was a 1938 graduate of Shannon High School. Dorothy farmed with her husband and worked at Roy's Grocery in Shannon, First State Bank of Shannon, the cafeteria at Lanark High School and the Shannon Café. She was a 4-H Leader and a member of Home Extension. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, sewing, crafting, cooking and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, Orval; her daughter, Kim (Larry) Nelson of Lena; two grandchildren, Rachel Zipsie of Greenville, MI, and Corey Nelson of Lena; one great grandchild, Aleese (Rane) Stone of Kansas City, KS; three foster great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.
