Edgar LeRoy Harbison (Lee) age 91, Freeport, IL passed away peacefully on July 5, 2022. He was born April 25, 1931 in Galesburg, Illinois to the late Charles and Louise (Woolsey) Harbison. Lee was married to Annemarie Madsen on July 2, 1955. Annemarie passed away on February 21, 2019.

After spending his early childhood in Galesburg, Illinois, Lee grew up in Chicago. He attended 1 year of Architecture School before entering the Navy in 1950. He served for 4 years in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was stationed in San Diego, California and he spent about 1 year on the USS Valley Forge Aircraft Carrier in the Pacific Theater off of the coast of Japan. He was a Petty Officer 2 ^nd Class upon discharge in 1954. Shortly after his discharge from the Navy, he met the love of his life, Annemarie on a blind date. They were soon married and Lee began working for IBM where he worked for nearly 35 years. Throughout his life, Lee was always interested in making the world a better place. He spent many years as a member of the Lions Club. He served for many years in several capacities on the local elementary school board and the councils of each church he was a member of. He enjoyed coaching Little League and umpiring high school baseball. He enjoyed bowling and golfing for 50 years or more. He also enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Upon his retirement from IBM, Lee and Annemarie moved from the Chicago suburbs to Lake Carroll, IL where they continued to enjoy golfing and boating. Lee's very favorite activity was anything to do with family. He had a deep love for his family and time spent together.

Lee is survived by his 4 children; Anne (William) Nielsen, Sheryl (Richard) Klotz, Leslie Nussle, and Keith (Linda) Harbison; 9 grandchildren: Laura (Matthew) Bernard, Kirsten (Brian) Cobb, Lisamarie (Bryan) Odeen, Kraig Klotz, Sarah Nussle, Kari (Ricky) Johnson, Mark Nussle, Todd Nielsen and McKenna Harbison; and 7 great grandchildren: Maren Odeen, Hattie Odeen, Anders Odeen, Moira Cobb, Raymond Johnson, Simon Johnson and Desmond Cobb. He was preceded in death by his wife Annemarie; his parents Charles and Louise Harbison; 2 brothers Charles and Myron and a sister Oralee.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held at St John's Lutheran Church in Pearl City, IL on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 11:00am. There will be visitation at St. John's Lutheran Church prior to the service beginning at 9:00am. Military honors will be presented at Highland Cemetery following the service. Memorials can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Pearl City, IL or Danebod Folk Camp, a place where our family has spent many wonderful weeks together.
