Obituary

Edna L. Kruse , age 83 of Shannon, IL passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport, IL. She was born in Dixon, IL on February 2, 1934 to the late Frank and Caroline (Bornemeier) Stichter. Edna was a 1952 graduate of Dakota High School. She married Clarence Kruse on September 16, 1956 at the Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren in Lanark, IL. Edna attended Nursing School in Minnesota. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Stephenson Nursing Center for over 30 years and retired from the Shannon Nursing Home. Edna loved the outdoors; fishing, camping, and taking drives along the river. She also enjoyed ceramics, her flower beds, and playing cards. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Kruse of Shannon; three sons, Frank Kruse and his friend Bob of Portland OR, Vernon (Fern) Kruse of Lanark, IL, Mark (Terri) Kruse of Lebanon, IL; daughter, Kimberly (John) Ferris of Lanark, IL; six grandchildren, Timothy Kruse, Karel (Jared) Leiper, Joshua Kruse, Theresa (Travis) Brugger, Racheal Kruse, Katelyn Kruse; one great grandchild, Bethany Leiper. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Caroline, and three sisters, Ruby Hartman, Dorothy Jam, and Arlene Kimmel. There will be a funeral service on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. A memorial fund has been established.
