STOCKTON, IL Francis G. Rees 88 of Stockton died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at home. He was born December 27, 1922 in Lena the son of the late Clifford & Gertrude (Roach) Rees. Francis and Eloise Elsbecker were married on June 14, 1947 in Bancroft, IA. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1944 to 1946 where he was a Motor Machinists Mate. He retired from Commonwealth Edison Company where he had worked for 36 years. He had lived in Stockton since 1957 and prior to that he had lived in Lena. He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church for 54 years, Stockton V.F.W. and American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, bird watching, nurturing the blue bird population, and gardening. He is survived by his wife; daughters Peggy (Joe) Katzenber of Lebanon, NJ, Janice (Calvin) Klopf of Stockton, and Mary (Rob) Luecke of Freeport, IL; sons Steven (Diane) Rees of Elgin, IL and Tom (Greta) Rees of Colorado Springs, CO; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; brother Donald (Ilene) Rees; sister-in-law Joyce (Alfred) Rees; and three nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Alfred, and nephew Dennis Rees. A visitation will be held Tuesday June 21, 2011 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton, with a 3:45 scripture service. The funeral service will be on Wednesday June 22, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery with military honors by the Stockton V.F.W. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of Freeport and to Holy Cross Catholic Church.
