Gary L. Pierce , age 53, of Kent, IL passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at home. He was born on February 7, 1964, the son of Leland (Bud) and Hazel (Downs) Pierce. He graduated from Stockton High School in 1982.

Gary worked at Kolb Lena Cheese Plant before moving to the Chicago suburbs to work as a carpenter, building and remodeling homes. He enjoyed working on cars and machinery, as well as, fine woodworking projects. He especially loved spending time with his children.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Emily; his son, Wesley, and the mother of his children, Elizabeth Gagnon of Johnsburg, IL; his father, Leland (Bud) Pierce; sisters, Cathy Brandenburg (Tom Brobst) of Freeport, Sharen (Mark) Mellicker of Kent, IL and Connie Finn of Abilene, TX; and his sister-in-law, Rebecca Pierce of Elizabeth, IL.  Gary had four nieces, one nephew and six great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel and older brother, Danny.
