Glenn R. Mapes, 99 of Stockton, died Monday, June 4, 2012 at Liberty Village Manor Court in Freeport. He was born April 22, 1913 in Rush Twp. in rural Stockton, the son of the late George & Alice (Evans) Mapes. He was 1931 graduate of Stockton High School. He married Gwendolyn Logan on October 22, 1938 in Elizabeth, she died November 2, 2010. He was a life long farmer, sold real-estate and was a former Bank Director of the First National Bank of Stockton. Memberships include Calvary United Methodist Church, 75yr member of the Plum River Masonic Lodge #544 where he was a 32nd degree Mason, 50 yr member of the Eastern Star, Tebala Shrine, Elks Club, Farm Bureau and a former member of the Stockton Lions Club. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home and has belonged to the Cardinal Capers sponsored by the Winnebago Motor Homes. He spent 30 yrs wintering in West Palm Beach, FL.
He is survived by his, son; Ronald (Marjorie) Mapes of Stockton, daughter; Cynthia (Steve) Brown of Rockford IL, 4-grandchildren; Lori (Tim) Zueger of Stockton, Jeff (Lynn) Brown of Rockford, Tim (Laura) Brown of Queens, NY & Bradley (Kim) Mapes of Stockton, 7 great grandchildren; Justin & Eric Brown, Hilary & Krista Zueger, Cheyenne, Cierra & Cameron Mapes. He was preceded in death by his parents & wife. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday June 8, 2012 at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stockton where visitation will begin at 10:00AM with burial in Ladies Union Cemetery where a Masonic service will be held.
