Heidi Evelyn Smital , age 56 of Rockford, IL passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Milestone. She was born on November 6, 1962 in Elmhurst, IL to Glenn and Mary (Beed) Smital.

As a 6 year old, Heidi attended Evelyn Schlafer's Special Ed Class in the Stockton Grade School. Before long it was decided that St. Francis Residential Home was a better fit for Heidi. Eventually, and for many years, Heidi was a resident of Milestone in Rockford where she worked and loved the staff. She enjoyed going out to eat at Subway and Mcdonald's. She absolutely loved holidays, her birthday was by far her favorite day of the year. Heidi would enjoy sitting with her mom at the piano playing and singing Christmas Carols. She adored her family, her brothers especially.

She is survived by her mother, Mary Smital; her brothers, Roger Smital and Peter (Svetlana) Smital; and her sisters, Marilyn Ruggirello and Linda (Jeff) Stout. She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters, Jill and Cecil.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Willow Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Wards Grove Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
