Howard L. Moe
, age 71 of Shannon, IL, passed away at home Wednesday, May 20, 2015. He was born March 29, 1944; the son of the late Martin and Ida (Duzan) Moe. He had attended Shannon High School and farmed in his early years. He was previously married to Barbara Sargent and together they had two daughters, Dawn and Kelli.
Along with farming, he worked for Al's Service where he would take his daughters, and Dawn and Kelli would always come out dirty. Howard had worked at and maintained the car wash and laundromats in Shannon and Forreston. He loved working on automobiles and owned and operated Howard's Auto Repair in his garage. When his girls were little, he worked hard with them teaching them how to work on and fix cars. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Shannon and he enjoyed having coffee all hours of the day at the Shannon Café. Howard loved listening to country music. He also loved watching the Dukes of Hazard and old western movies, especially Clint Eastwood movies. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Dawn (Brian) Keister of Mt. Carroll, IL and Kelli Moe of Freeport, IL; four grandchildren: Tesla, Tori (David), & Toni Keister and Malayla Moe; great grandson, Brydon Jo Keister; two sisters, Loretta Cheeney of Warren, IL and Blondena (Robert) Best of Shannon; many cousins; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his cat and best friend, Mrs. A and by his greatly appreciated care taker, Karen.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Deloris Campbell; and brothers-in-law, Leotis "Jonnie" Campbell and Franklin Cheeney.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 26th at 5:30 pm at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 4:00 pm. A private burial will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for Bethel United Methodist Church and Lutheran Social Services.
