Obituary

Iola N. Kniss, age 97 of Pearl City, IL, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Lena Living Center in Lena, IL. She was born November 22, 1916; the daughter of the late Edwin and Agnes (Boeger) Bicker. She married Elmer Kniss on September 14, 1940 in Davenport, IA; he died May 11, 1993.
Iola farmed with her husband for over 50 years and loved caring for her animals. She also enjoyed going to the boat, playing cards, and growing flowers. Iola especially loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her sister, Verla Bicker of Freeport, IL and several nieces & nephews, as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, LaVerle and Harleth; and three sisters, including her twin, Iona Sturtevant, LaVonia Buchenau, and Farris Walker.
A special thank you to Iola's great-niece, Amy Baker, for the un-ending love and care that she gave to Iola throughout her stay at the nursing home.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Hermann Funeral Home in Pearl City, IL with her great-nephew, Brian Phillips officiating. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at the Brethren Cemetery in Shannon, IL. A memorial fund has been established.
