Janet M. Townsend
, age 77 of Stockton, IL, passed away at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL on Monday, April 13, 2015. She was born December 18, 1937; the daughter of the late G. Donald and Bessie (Pepoon) Townsend. At age 10, she moved to Ft. Morgan, CO where she graduated from Ft. Morgan High School. She then attended business college in Denver, CO.
After college, Janet worked in Columbus, OH and later in Washington State. She returned to Stockton after retirement. She loved quilting and was a member of the Friendship Quilters where she held the office of treasure for a few years. She was also an RSVP Volunteer and volunteered as an usher at Timberlake Playhouse and at the Stockton Heritage Museum. Janet also enjoyed reading, quilting, and bird watching.
She is survived by her brother, Raymond (Mary Ann) Townsend of Pueblo, CO; sister, Beth Walker of Ft. Morgan, CO; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins of the Pierces, Coppernolls, and Townsends. Janet is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bobbi Reagan; and brothers-in-law, Gerald Reagan and Edward Walker.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. A graveside memorial will take place on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 1:30 pm at the Townsend Cemetery. A time of fellowship will follow the service at Eloise Pierce's farm. A memorial fund has been established for the Stockton Heritage Museum.
