John Patrick Joseph Michael Finnegan born January 24, 1935 in Chicago Illinois passed away peacefully on December 9th, 2024.

'Jack' was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

'Jackson' was what his previously deceased by his wife of 66 years Elizabeth Louise 'Betty' Finnegan nee Swift often called him.

Jack and Betty purchased a lot at Apple Canyon Lake in the early 80's and bought a house on the 8th fairway in 1994. They eventually sold that house to their daughters and moved next-door to be on the eighth green.

It was here that they spent many hours either playing golf on the course they lived on, or spectating other golfers from their screened in porch or deck. Jack was an avid griller and made his 'testers' for his extended family for years afterwards. He freely cheered on the golfers from his deck while grilling for his family and holding a glass of red wine in his hand.

Jack worked at Motorola for years until his retirement. He got his name on a patent for a microchip for one of the first cell phones ever invented. But once Jack retired, he did not want any of us using that dirty 4-letter word in front of him. WORK

His golf cart had a retired license plate on it, and he enjoyed his retirement to its fullest. Jack and Betty spent many winters traveling down to Hot Springs Village or Phoenix, Arizona during the Illinois winter months.

Jack leaves behind children Debbie, Tracy (Bryan), Rick and Laurie Finnegan. Grandfather to Danny, Jennifer (Ben), Alex (Jordan), Bri, Erin, Kelli and Jack. Great Grandfather to McKenzie, Colten and Hudson. Jack also leaves behind his sister-in-law Kathleen Metevier, brothers-in-law Jim Metevier and John Ansonia (Marilyn). Jack had numerous nieces and nephews spread across the country who will dearly miss Uncle Jack (Smasher)

There will be a graveside Mass in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery in Stockton, IL. In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made in John Finnegan's name to his Church- Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton, IL.
