John Henry Stevens , age 69, of Shannon, IL passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025. He was born on May 28, 1955 in Spencer, WV to the late Donald and Evelyn Stevens. John married Linda Vietmeyer on April 3, 1976 in Lanark, IL.

John was a self-employed carpenter for the last 25 years. He had previously worked for several farmers in the area. He loved doing carpentry work and talking about the work he had done. He enjoyed watching his son, Adam, tractor pull. Most of all, he was a loving husband and a great role model to Adam.

John is survived by his wife, Linda of Shannon; his son, Adam (Kristy) Stevens of Shannon; his grandchildren, Andrea Stevens, Addison Mochal and Bryson Mochal; his dog, Benny; his brothers, Steve (Debbie) Stevens of Forreston and Terry (Deb) Stevens of Baileyville; his sisters, Nanette (Henry Alonso) Daniels of Freeport, Peggy (Jim) Debord of DeLeon, TX and Cindy Stevens of Freeport; his step brother, Tim (Holly) Duffield of Culleoka, TN; and his step sister, Teresa (Chuck) Wellman of Cedar Rapids, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law; and his step mom, Marilyn.

A committal service will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL at 10:00 a.m. A memorial fund has been established.
