Joyce D. Mercer , age 87 of Stockton, IL passed away Friday, September 25, 2020 at Waverly Place of Stockton. She was born February 27, 1933 in Warren, IL to the late Fred and Nellie (McLamarrah) Krippendorf. Joyce married Dale Marks on June 30, 1951. Dale passed away in October of 1978. She later married William Mercer and he passed away in 2005.

Joyce was a 1951 graduate of Warren High School. She had worked at the Dime Store in Stockton, Super Value in Stockton, Farmers Hatchery and Exchange in Elizabeth and was most known as the Activity Director at the Elizabeth Nursing Home. She was an avid card player of Euchre, 500 and Schafkopf. Joyce loved nature and went for many walks on a special trail and would often be found weeding her flower garden. Lastly, she would want to be remembered as a Good Samaritan for taking care of orphaned cats.

She is survived by her two sons, Steven Marks of Galena and Nelson Marks of Stockton and her two kitty cats, Goldie and Snowflake. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Ladies Union Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
