Joyce E. Rucker, age 68 of Johnsburg, IL, passed away Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Village at Victory Lakes in Lindenhurst, IL. She was born March 2, 1945 in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Norman and Theresa (Loeffelholz) Richter. She was a 1963 graduate of Aquin High School. Joyce graduated from Illinois State with a teaching degree, and received her Masters Degree from National Louis University. She was a teacher for the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL) for 34 years. Joyce enjoyed crafts, going to lunch with friends and relatives, and taking care of her grandson, Brady. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa (George) Melott of Antioch, IL; son, Raymond (Michelle) Rucker of Centralia, MO: six grandchildren, Brady Melott; Isaac, Jacob, Elijah, Elizabeth, & Hanna Rucker; two sisters, Janice (Richard) Keller of Sykeston, ND and Sally (Donald) Tyrer of Freeport, IL; and her brother, Ralph (Norma) Richter of Wood River, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jean Miller. The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Hermann Funeral Home in Pearl City, IL. There will be a one hour visitation before the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Internment will take place at Highland Cemetery in Pearl City. A memorial fund has been established.
