Juanita Marie Willis , age 78, of Stockton, IL passed away Monday, May 18, 2026. She was born in Freeport, IL on February 24, 1948 to the late Robert and Margaret (Farley) Heidenreich. Juanita married LaVerne Willis on December 27, 1969. LaVerne passed away August 13, 2023.

Juanita's mission was to write many letters daily to family and friends.  She also enjoyed visiting with people and playing games with her family.  She loved hearing about her grandkids' accomplishments and adventures. She also enjoyed time with her sister in GA. She was a big part of caring for many of her grandchildren as they grew up.  She especially enjoyed attending as many music events of her grandchildren as she could.  She attended Calvary Church of Stockton as well as Grace Bible Church in Woodbine for many years.  She was also involved with Home Extension. Juanita graduated from Highland Community College and then Westmar College with a teaching degree. She taught for a few years, then farmed with her husband for over 20 years. She volunteered her teaching skills at the Woodbine Christian School.  Later on, she worked at Eagle Ridge for over 20 years and then for a few years at the Elizabeth Nursing Home.  She enjoyed her horses and her cat, Sunshine. She passed away on the farm where she had wanted to be at the end of her life.

Juanita is survived by her daughters, Sue (Kevin) Miller and Julie Romaine; her son, Kimball (Sandy Staas) Willis; her grandchildren, Jessica, Caleb (Esther), Sara, Elizabeth, Avri, Rachel (Jacob), Micaela, Joshua, Jaime, Lydia, Landon, Tiffani and Maggie; her sister Virgina; her brother, Max (Pat); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Margaret Heidenreich;  her husband, LaVerne Willis; her daughter, Marcella Portner; two grandchildren, Austin and Chloe;  and her sisters, Lois Haithcock and Ramona Salamone.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Grace Bible Church of Woodbine from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A family graveside service will be held. A memorial fund has been established.
