Katherine L. Harrison, age 92 of Stockton, IL, passed away Thursday, March 06, 2014 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. She was born May 29, 1921 in Cumro, NE; the daughter of the late John and Olga (Swenson) Popp. She attended Broken Bow High School in Broken Bow, NE. After graduating, she taught at a one room school house for two years. She then received her nursing degree at Denver General Hospital. Kay married Warren Harrison on August 17, 1947 in Lincoln, NE; he died May 17, 2002.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Stockton. Her memberships also include the Stockton Women's Club, Northwest IL Hospice, and Eureka HCE. She loved helping people and volunteered at the Stockton nursing home and museum. She especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Kay is survived by three daughters, Leslie (Andy) Hawley of Stockton, Marcia (Hugh) Miles of Denver, CO, and Julie Harrison Reincke of Eaton Rapids, MI; grandchildren: Erin, Ben, & Katie Reincke; Sarah, Michael, & Maggie Miles; and Bob, Bridget, and Steve Hawley; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 9 at 4:00 PM at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton where a visitation will begin at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at Ladies Union Cemetery in Stockton at a later date. A memorial fund has been established.
