Kathryn E. Nelson , age 94 of Pearl City, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. She was born April 23, 1923; the daughter of the late William and Arley (Snyder) Flickinger. She was a 1941 graduate of Pearl City High School. Kathryn married William Nelson on April 8, 1943; he passed on May 24, 1986.

She had worked at Micro Switch for many years until retiring. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Lena Chapter. She was also a member of the White Shrine of Freeport and of the Freeport Genealogy Club. She was also a past president of the Pearl City Historical Organization. She enjoyed family history, working outside with flowers, photography, crocheting, and knitting. She loved her cat, Baby Bear.

Kathryn is survived by her granddaughters, Kim (Andrew) Keil of Dubuque, IA and Stacy (Kerry) Thurman of Freeport; great grandchildren, Lauren Keil, Nathan Lamm, and Jamie Lamm; and cousin, Mary Ellen Aurand of Pearl City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; and son, Jerry.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 4 ^th at 12:00 pm at St. John Lutheran Church in Pearl City. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Ladies Union Cemetery in Stockton. A memorial fund has been established for the Pearl City Fire Department.
