Kenneth Ray Moll , age 96, of Shannon, IL passed away Monday, September 11, 2023 at Allure of Mt. Carroll. He was born in rural Shannon on June 16, 1927 to the late G. Ray and Florence (Horner) Moll. Kenneth married Ardath Erbsen on March 30, 1947 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon. Ardath passed away December 25, 2011.
Kenneth was a 1944 graduate of Shannon High School. He was a lifelong farmer and member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he served on many committees over the years. Kenneth was a mentor at Eastland Grade School for a number of years. He served on the Shannon School Board, Illinois Beef Board, Carroll County Zoning Board of Appeals, as President of the Board of Directors for Lanark Mutual Insurance and as Township Trustee and later Supervisor. He was also a member of Carroll County Livestock Feeders, Mt. Carroll Masonic Lodge and Tebala Shriners. Kenneth enjoyed reading, dancing and traveling with his wife, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Joe) Meyers of Forreston; his sons, David (Lori) Moll of Shannon and Douglas (Vicki) Moll of Shannon; his grandchildren, Kevin (Brenda) Duitsman, Krista (Bruce) Carlson, Rachel Perez, Aaron Moll, Monica (Travis) Burkholder, Jeremie (Esther) Moll, Zacharie (Rachel) Moll and Anthonie Moll; his great grandchildren, Jessica (Colton), Brett, Heidi, Matthew, Nicholas, Madaline, Addison, Kennedy, Jackson and Alexandra; his great great granddaughter, Savannah; his sister, Phyllis Lawson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his sister, Doris Heumann.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon at 10:30 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. There will be a visitation Monday, September 18, 2023 also at the church from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL. A memorial fund has been established.
