Larry K. Krell , age 81, of Freeport, IL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at his home. He was born in Freeport on August 17, 1941 to the late Kermit and Thelma (Bertsch) Krell. Larry married Shirley Mayer on August 3, 1974 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon.

Larry was a 1959 graduate of Lanark High School. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965. After he returned home, he started his banking career and had worked for the State Bank of Freeport for 20 years and the Freeport branch of Kent Bank for 13 years. Larry was a member of Bethel UMC in Shannon, Shannon American Legion, and past member of the Shannon Lions Club. He was a trustee for Florence Township for 40 years. Larry enjoyed farming with his 2 cylinder John Deere's, horseback riding, and watching old westerns, especially John Wayne. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Krell of Freeport; his daughter, Lisa Marie (Buddy) Bordwine of Yukon, OK; and his son, Todd Michael (Dawn) Krell of Freeport; his grandchildren, Garrett Bordwine of Yukon, OK, Caitlyn Krell of Freeport and Logan Krell of Freeport. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gordon (Nancy) Krell.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel UMC in Shannon. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. also at Bethel UMC. A private family graveside at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport will take place prior to the celebration of life. A memorial fund has been established.
