Obituary

LaVerne Allen Buske , age 91, of Machesney Park, IL passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at home. He was born at home in Waddoms Grove on January 18, 1934 to the late Allen and Marjorie (Brinker) Buske. LaVerne married Marilyn Townsend on February 22, 1957. Marilyn passed away May 31, 2020.

LaVerne was a longtime member of Bethany Presbyterian Church on Loves Park where he was very active and served as Trustee and Deacon. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. LaVerne worked as a CNC Operator for several manufacturers. He also volunteered at the Discovery Center. LaVerne was a handyman who could work on everything and anything. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years. He also enjoyed gun collecting, building muzzle loaders, target practice, woodworking and fishing. He was always willing to give a helping hand and had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his daughters, Edie (Richard Clark) Anderson of Machesney Park, Cherie Lyon of Rockford, and Christie (Ernesto) Cardenas of CA; his grandchildren, Eric (Amy) Anderson, Jesse Anderson, Jonathon (Kristin) Reed, Mark (Mallory) Lyon, James Lyon, David (Susan) Foster, and Kyle Cardenas; his 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; and his sister, Linda Sweet of Shannon. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his granddaughter, Nicole; his grandson, Curtis; his son-in-law, Fred Anderson; and his brother, Randy Buske.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton with a visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Townsend Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
