Lois E. Cheeseman, age 99 of Shannon, IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Oakley Courts in Freeport, IL. She was born May 10, 1924 in Forreston, IL; the daughter of John and Henrietta (Reintz) DeVries. She married Emerson Cheeseman on November 28, 1940; he died on February 24, 2009.

Lois was a lifetime member (78 years) of Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon and helped out with the Lions Club. She enjoyed baking, eating out with friends, playing cards and games, and bowling. She loved holiday gatherings where family would share stories, laugh, and remember special times.

She is survived by her son, Jay Cheeseman of Shannon; daughters, Carol (Don) Larson of Freeport and Diane (Wayne) Mead of Sun Prairie, WI; daughter-in-law, Jan Cheeseman of Fort Meyers, FL; 9 grandchildren, Rod (Lisa) Bass, Angela (Steve) Chang, Jennifer Mead, Melissa (Chad) Linzmeyer, Krista (Brett) Rainwater, Kara (Shawn) Conley, Joshua Cheeseman, Wendy Domino, and Rori (Jamie Pfile) Schrader; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Phyllis West of Lakeland, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emerson; son, Lynn; daughter-in-law, Quayla; sisters, Mildred Vietmeier and Gladys Ludewig; and brother, Paul (Leone) DeVries.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon, IL with a visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established.
