Lorraine Catherine Stutzman , age 87, of Shannon, IL passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She was born November 29, 1934 in Mandan, ND to the late Christian and Rose (Walters) Schmidt. Lorraine married Jack Barth on January 10, 1956. Jack passed away June 19, 1979. Lorraine married William "Bill" Stutzman on August 9, 1980.
Lorraine was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Shannon where she was also a member of the Ladies Society. She had a very strong faith and always started her days off by reading the Bible. She was a member of the Shannon Ladies Auxiliary and served as Chaplain. She was also a member of the Savanna Moose Lodge. Lorraine was the head of the food pantry in Hanover for 7 years and owned/operated a food stand with her husband Bill for 17 years. She was an old fashioned homemaker who loved to cook and bake. She also enjoyed crocheting and gardening, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Stutzman of Shannon; her sons, Kevin (Connie) Barth of Yorkville and Keith (Lavon) Barth of Freeport; her daughter, Jacqueline (George Reevertes) Cornelius of Byron; her adopted daughter, Cheryl Lise Ocasio Jacobo of FL; her step children, Debbie Greenfield of Lanark, Barbara Briggs of Baileyville, Shirley Williams of Mt. Carroll, John Stutzman of Yuma, AZ, and David Stutzman of Dale, TX; her brothers, Leonard Schmidt, Daniel (Marlene) Schmidt and Jerald Schmidt; her sisters, Hildagard Bachmeier, Donna Mae Olson and Connie (Doug) Livengood; her 22 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jack; her son, Kenneth Barth; her brothers, George and Edward Schmidt; and several in-laws.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Shannon at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Hermann Funeral Home in Shannon from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established.
