Lucille R. DeWall
, 96 of Shannon, IL passed away October 4, 2015 at Freeport Memorial Hospital. Lucille was born July 2, 1919 the daughter of Henry and Nettie (Moring) Wubbena in Ogle County, Illinois. She was married to Leonard DeWall on February 7, 1939 in Forreston, Illinois.
The couple farmed on the family farm in Ogle County until moving to Shannon in 1963. Lucille and Leonard were members of Prairie Dell Church where she taught Sunday School for 24 years. Later she joined Park Hills Church in Freeport and served several years as deaconess. Leonard preceding her in death on February 12, 2004 after the couple celebrated 67 years of marriage.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters, and one brother. She is survived by one son, Larry DeWall (Debbie) of Lanark, Illinois; six grandchildren, Celina DeWall (Rob) Scronce of Montgomery, Illinois, Rhett DeWall (Emily) of Superior, Colorado, Brooke DeWall (Ryan) Ekvall of South Carolina, Angie (Bryan) Remrey, Scott Heeren (Chastity), and Kevin (Keri) Heeren, all of Lanark; several great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister in law, Vera Wubbena of Lanark; and several nieces and nephews. She was blessed with her special nephew and niece Eldon and Elsie DeWall and family of Freeport, Illinois; also, loving, special friends, Irving and Darlene Greenfield of Ridott, Illinois.
Lucille was a loving, generous person with a sharp mind and a sense of humor. Grandma Lucy worshiped God and her family. She baked the very best cookies in the world. She will be missed but she wants to remind you she will see you all again someday in Heaven!
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday October 12 at Park Hills Evangelical Church in Freeport, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
