Obituary

Marguerite Hensel, 84, of Stockton, Illinois passed away on July 23, 2013 at Stockton Healthcare & Rehab Center. She was born May 6, 1929 in Kanawha, Iowa to Nick and Nellie (Benninga) Christians. She married Carroll Hensel on September 12, 1952 in Kanawha, Iowa. Marguerite was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Stockton. Prior to her retirement she was employed at Woods Pharmacy in Stockton for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Bible studies, volunteer work, church activities, and get togethers with her friends. She is survived by her sons, Steven of Lincoln, Nebraska, Brian (Lora Lee) of Vermillion, South Dakota, and daughter Lori (Karl) Lawfer of Kent, Illinois; five grandchildren, Ellen and Martha Hensel, and Kelsey, Jaclyn, and Jacob Lawfer. Also surviving are two sisters, Henrietta Rietema and Nettie Assink, and one sister-in-law, Mavis Christians all of Kanawha, Iowa, many nieces and nephews, and three children of her deceased husband, Patricia (Ben) Thomas of Henry, Illinois, Kathleen Steding of Latimer, Iowa, and Tom (Cathy) Hensel of Brainerd, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, four brothers, five brothers-in-law, and 3 sisters-in-law. Funeral services will be held in Stockton on Friday, July 26th with visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 followed by a service at 3:00 at Christ Lutheran Church. There will also be a visitation in Kanawha, Iowa on Saturday, July 27th from 2:00 to 3:00 at the Ewing Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Alexander, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established.
