Obituary

Marilyn Patricia Hammer , 82, of Shannon passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore on Nov 1, 2017. Marilyn was born December 4, 1934, in Oak Park, IL. She married the love of her life, William Hammer on March 26, 1955. They raised their family in Lombard, Illinois.

Marilyn was a co-owner of Process Screw Products since 1962, the company started by her and her husband. They fulfilled the "American dream" by starting a business from the ground up within their own garage, which eventually moved to Shannon, IL in 1988, where it continues to be a family run business today.

She spent many summers as a child in Cassville, WI and continued summers up there with her own children at the cabin. Marilyn loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Wonderful times spent around the kitchen table and the pool in the backyard, will be fondly remembered by all. Fannie May Pixies and chocolate were a sure way to her heart. She loved "projects" which seemed to always include her grandchildren, she taught many of them, what work was, how to check parts and how to even use a chainsaw. One of her greatest joys was the family Christmas celebration that she hosted at her home. It included gifts for all and an appearance by Santa himself. She loved traveling with her extended family, and was very generous in hosting numerous family trips to Florida, cruises to Alaska, and the most recent to Minocqua, WI. She fulfilled her goal of taking her grandchildren to Disney, memories they will never forget. Through her generosity many of us got to see "the world". She left quite a legacy including 13 children, 52 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 2 more great and 1 more great great grandchildren on the way! She will surely miss her best friend Marilyn Philp and her favorite "cousins" Elliot (Marga) Vallas and Paul Lanphier. She held a special place in her heart for her nephew Kevin Quill. A special thanks to the staff at FHN hospital and Shannon ambulance for their much appreciated care over the years.
