Max U. South, age 78 of Lake Carroll, IL, passed away Tuesday, June 03, 2014 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. He was born April 27, 1936 in Fayette, AL; the son of the late Vermon and Nora (Smith) South. He married Mildred McIntosh in 1962 in Knoxville, TN.
Max had served in the United States Army, and retired from AT&T Teletype of Chicago, IL. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; daughter, Suzanne; sons, Robert, Ronald, and Raymond; grandson, David; and sisters, Martha, Kay, and Betty.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held Friday, June 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Hermann Funeral Home in Shannon, IL. There will be a one hour visitation before the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place at the Lanark Cemetery in Lanark, IL. A memorial fund has been established.
