Merle W. Adleman, age 77 of Stockton, IL, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at home. He was born July 19, 1935, the son of Merle and Violet (Jones) Adleman. Merle and Audrey Mau were married on December 1, 1956 in Warren, IL.Â
He had been supervisor for the JoDaviess County Illinois Department of Transportation for 30 years. He had also worked for Atwood Automotive, was involved in carpentry work, and built many houses in the area. Merle was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Stockton. He enjoyed carpentry, and farming with his son-in-law. He worshiped his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; two daughters, Tamra (Randy) Kryder of Lena, IL, and Cindy (Mark) Spittler of Freeport, IL; three grandchildren, Adam (Karen) Kryder, Kelsey (Curtis) Goeke, and Karen (Nathan) Hensal; two great grandchildren, Andrew & Jacob Hensal; his sister, Dolores (Bill) Mammoser of Stockton; and his brother, Roger Adleman of Stockton.
He is preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Barbara.
There will be a fellowship gathering at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Wesley United Methodist Church in Stockton, Rev. Brenda Morris presiding. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
