Michael A. Alvey, age 71, of Shannon, IL passed away at home surrounded by family on December, 26th from a long-term illness. He was born in Oregon, Illinois, on February 19, 1953 to Paul and Edna (Erdmier) Alvey. He married his high school sweetheart Darlene Deal on June 7, 1975 and had two sons.

Mike worked for Al's Quality in Shannon, IL for 26 years as a mechanic and for Elkay Manufacturing in Savanna for 10 years. He served on the Shannon Zoning Board for 16 years and also served on the Village Board as a Village Trustee for 14 years. While his children were young, he coached youth baseball for several years. His passions were to fish and hunt every chance he could get and enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandchildren. If you saw Mike there was a good chance he had a smile on his face.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Edna (Erdmier) Alvey; his four sisters, Peggy, Joan, Wendy, and Janice; his two brothers, John and David. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; his two sons, Travis (Kalah) Alvey and Thane (Kelly) Alvey; his four grandchildren, Kenny, Kory, Brenna and Teagan; and his sisters, Sally Schaar and Jackie (Roy) Warfield

Visitation will be held at Hermann Funeral Home in Shannon on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. with burial following at Brethren Cemetery. A luncheon will commence following the services at Bethel United Methodist Church.
