Mildred V. Schreiber
, age 97 of Shannon, IL, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 in DeWitt, IA. She was born July, 22, 1918 in Armour, SD; the daughter of the late Bernard and Emily (Verzani) Halter. She graduated from Wagner High School in 1936 in Wagner, SD. Mildred married George Schreiber on January 19, 1938 in Chicago, IL; he died in 1989.
Her memberships include St. Wendelin's Catholic Church of Shannon and the Ladies Society. She was the Activity Director for Parkview and Shannon nursing homes. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and playing cards.
Mildred is survived by her daughters, Sandra Bicker of Livingston, MT and Marsha (Bill) Aiken of DeWitt, IA; sons, Michael (Mary) Schreiber of Lost Nation, IA and Robert Schreiber of Shannon; daughter In-law, Gloria Schreiber of Glenview, MN; 22 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; and sister, Norena Thoma of Denver, CO.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; son, Gary; four sisters; and two brothers.
The funeral service will be at held 10:00 AM Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the St. Wendelin's Catholic Church in Shannon, IL. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 9:00. Interment will take place at St. Wendelin's Catholic Cemetery in Shannon. A memorial fund has been established for St. Wendelin's Catholic Church.
