Nola Mae Woessner, age 60, of Shannon, IL passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2023 at home with her family by her side. She was born on July 14, 1962 in Freeport, IL to the late Reginald and Eudocia (Crull) Goeke. Nola married William Woessner on June 22, 1985 at the Dakota Community Presbyterian Church.
Nola was a 1980 graduate of Dakota High School and went on to receive her associates degree from Highland Community College and her Bachelor of Chemistry degree from the University of Illinois. Nola was a very active member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon. She was also treasurer for the UMW and the memorials committee. Nola was a coach for Eastland High School Quiz Bowl for 7 years. Nola loved to bake and would bake for many different occasions.
She is survived by her husband, William Woessner; her son, Samuel Woessner; her daughter, Kathryn Woessner; her mother-in-law, Carol Woessner; her brothers, Andrew (Joan) Goeke, Mark (Mary) Goeke, David (Valerie) Goeke, James (Lori) Goeke and Paul (Lisa) Goeke; her sisters, Kathryn (Larry) Callahan, Elizabeth (Tom) Sorn and Evelyn (Jack) Lister. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law, Lisa Woessner.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Brethren Cemetery in Shannon. A memorial fund has been established.
