Norma attended Oakville Grade School for 8 years and then graduated from Mt. Carroll High School, Class of 1943. She was a good student, graduating fourth in her class.
After graduation she was employed by the U.S. government at the O.P.A. office distributing scarce items to patrons such as sugar, tires, gasoline and shoes. After two years she met and married Lawrence Woessner on December 1, 1945 in Shannon where they farmed, milked cows, raised pigs, chickens and feeder cattle. Norma always had a garden and canned produce. She loved her flowers, but not the milking machines!
They had three children, Connie Noreen, Randall Lee and Lorna "Laurie" Kay. Norma and Lawrence were very active in the Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon. They were members of the Tri-Hi Sunday School Class. Norma was active in the U.M.W. Rachel Circle which she enjoyed. She also taught 3rd grade Sunday school for several years. With Lawrence, Norma was involved in state Farm Bureau and travelled to many areas of the world. They made many friends through the state Lions Clubs, going to Hawaii, Australia, China, Canada and Mexico, as well as locations throughout the United States — but was always glad to be back home.
Norma enjoyed her bowling, being on a league until in her 80s. She was a good cook, being noted for her potato salad and pies. She and Lawrence enjoyed going out to eat and to Lawrence's many meetings. She was an avid reader, enjoying historical novels and "every book published."
