Owen E. Kuhse's Obituary
Owen E. Kuhse, age 81 of Stockton, IL, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Stockton Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. He was born February 24, 1933, the son of the late Joseph and Edna (Traum) Kuhse. Owen married Jerrine Kappes on January 3, 1953; she died March 27, 2002.
He had served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Owen had worked at Kroeger, Eagles Foods, and retired from Sullivan's in June of 2008. He was a member of the Eagles Club and Moose Lodge in Freeport, IL. He enjoyed watching and going to NASCAR races with Rod Cameron and his pit crew. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Owen is survived by his daughter, Penny Kuhse of Freeport; sons, Gary (Patricia) Kuhse of Chadwick, IL and Jerry (Laura) Kuhse of Freeport; grandchildren, Dan Kuhse, Coral (Brian) Lamm, Amy (Robert) McPeek, Angela (Josh) Zuck, Heather Kuhse, Brock (Stephanie) Kuhse, Jason (Jennifer) Kuhse, Jessie Kuhse, and Devin Kuhse; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and sister, Jo Ann Ross of Savanna, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jerrine; sister, Darlene Schleuening; and brother-in-law, Richard Schleuening.
A visitation will be held Thursday, November 13th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton. A graveside service will take place on Friday, November 14th at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established for the Stockton Veteran's Memorial.
