Patricia Ann Vanderheyden's Obituary
Patricia Ann Vanderheyden, 64, Stockton, Illinois, passed away at her home in the early morning hours on Saturday, October 18, 2014. She was born March 31, 1950, daughter of Mason Dwight Vanderheyden and Helen June (Schap) Vanderheyden.
Pat was a devoted member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a long-term member and volunteer of the VFW Auxiliary. She spent many 4th of Julys at Stockton Memorial Park selling raffle tickets for the organization. She proudly supported the Disabled American Veterans and was a true patriot of our Country.
Patricia was employed at JDWI where she worked many jobs over the years: light assembly, commercial laundry, and the packaging of catheters. But, Pat most enjoyed her years working with the activity director at Morgan Memorial Home where she had a variety of duties including, reading to the residents, delivering afternoon snacks, and helping with the craft activities.
Patricia grew up and lived all her years in Stockton where she enjoyed her tight-knit Willis Street neighborhood, and large family. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews and always knew the latest news from the oldest to the youngest.
Pat loved country music, creating jewelry with her beads, and keeping up with her hobby of scrapbooking various topics. She was especially known for her compilation of obituaries which were even borrowed by historian Robert Kleckner, to assist him with his research. Pat loved to travel and she enjoyed different trips with her sisters. Pat had a remarkable gift for trivia and was often called to recall a particular celebrity name or name of a TV show. Pat enjoyed animals; especially dogs and horses, reading, and watching her programs on TV.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Thomas Leland Vanderheyden. She is survived by her sisters Nancy (Randy) Lundgren of Rockford, Sally (Kenneth) Tucker, and Laurie (Erwin Zueger) Gothard of Stockton, Susan (Charles) Kraft of Lena, and one brother Steven (Stefanie) Vanderheyden of Stockton. She is remembered by her nieces and nephews: James and Andrew Lundgren, Cole and Kyle Vanderheyden, David Tucker, Reese and Shayna Vanderheyden, Philip, Paul, and Emily Gothard, as well as many great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Pat made a life-long friend of everyone she met and will be remembered as a loving, caring person who will be greatly missed.
A special thanks to the staff, her extended family of Kreider Services, at Anderson Apts. for their help and guidance as well as Dr. Cleary and all the medical staff who managed her health all these years.
Visitation will be at Hermann's Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 – 7 pm, with funeral service Wednesday October 22, 2014 at 11:00 am at Wesley United Methodist Church.
