W. Paul Shade, age 78 of Forreston, IL, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 of Alzheimer's Disease at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. He was born August 17, 1935 in Redmond, OR; the son of the late William and Katherine (Shumaker) Shade. When he was two years old, they moved to Illinois. He married Sandra Hille on February 4, 1956 in Freeport, IL.
Paul farmed and had worked for Keith Martin for 20 years. He had also worked at Process Screw and the Forreston Cheese Factory. Paul loved woodworking and enjoyed collecting, especially toy trucks. He was also a Cubs and Bears fan. Most of all, Paul loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, they were very special to him.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra of Forreston; daughters, Deborah (Kim) Sweitzer of Mt. Carroll, IL and Kathy (Dennis) Gantz of Forreston; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; sister, Donna Werkheiser of Pearl City, IL; brother, Ray Shade of Freeport; sister-in-law, Karen Rouse of Rockford; and brother-in-law, Bud Hille of South Beloit, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Hermann Funeral Home in Shannon, IL. The funeral service will be Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 1:00 pm, also at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
