Philip S. Konrad , age 84 of Lake Carroll, IL, formerly of Prospect Heights, IL, died peacefully at home Thursday, June 29, 2017. He was born January 27, 1933 in St. Louis, MO; the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Schaefer) Konrad. He was a 1951 graduate of Oak Park River Forest High School and earned a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from IIT. Philip married Kathryn Welch on September 10, 1955.

In 1979 he started his own successful business, PMA Friction Products, formerly PM Automotive, Inc. He was a member of St. Wendelin's Catholic Church in Shannon, Il. Known as" Farmer Phil" by many, he raised chickens, turkeys, as well as his many adored Labrador Retrievers.  He was a master gardener and brought to life everything he planted and nurtured. Phil loved the lake and was also an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Kay of Lake Carroll;  9 children, John (Debbie); Joe (Paulette); Deb(Dennis) Neumann; Tom(Maria); Joan (Larry) Sweetman; Bob; Jim; Sue(Dennis) Heuer; and Paul (Jill); 23 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Ruth and June; and brother, Bill.
