Robert "Evy" Lee Evans , 75 of Lena, IL passed away on August 5th, 2025.
Born on May 11th, 1950 in Freeport, IL Bob was the son of LaVerne and Berniece (Miller) Evans. He was married to Mary Harkness on November 26th, 1969 and together they had two children, Dawn and Dan, who were his pride and joy.
After graduating from Pearl City High School in 1968, Bob went on to pursue a career as an Operating Engineer and was a Lifetime Gold Card Member for Local 150. He worked at Civil/Helm Construction. Bob's strong work ethic and commitment to his profession were evident throughout his career.
Bob was also a passionate sports enthusiast, known for his love of the Green Bay Packers, Fighting Illini Basketball, and dirt track racing.
His athletic talent was displayed throughout his youth excelling in football, basketball, and baseball in high school. He continued his love for sports by playing for Country Companies in a fast pitch softball league. Bob cherished the time spent with his friends traveling to basketball games all over the state of Illinois and attended the Illinois State High School Basketball Tournament for an incredible 55 years.
However, his greatest love was for his family. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him endless joy and were a constant source of pride and happiness throughout his life.
Outside of sports, Bob enjoyed spending quality time with his dearest friends. He was a regular at Wisconsin supper clubs, loved boating, golfing, morel hunting, and attending dirt track racing events. He also found enjoyment in visits to the casino.
Bob will be remembered for his generous heart, deep love for his family, and his unwavering passion for the things that brought him joy. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will live on in the hearts of those that knew him.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife Mary, his daughter Dawn (Dale) Hicks, and his son Dan (Missy) Evans. His grandchildren Boden (Bryanna) Brandt, Kenzee Evans, Logan (Kelli) White. His great grandchildren Braelynn, Maverick, Kamden, Keltie, Raelynn, and his grandpups Remi and Sadie. Brother Mike (Karen) Evans and sister-in-law Jane Boop.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ronald and Donald and sister Patricia. In laws Glen and Ethel Harkness and brother-in-law Gordy Boop.
There will be a private family service and burial. Bob loved hosting the annual Pearl City Homecoming party and it's his wish to have one last party. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 16th from 2 pm to 6 pm at Coach's Golf and Grill, 621 W. Lena St. Lena, IL 61048. In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been established in Bob's name.
