STOCKTON, IL Robert 'BobWilliam Smith 93 passed away quietly late Saturday afternoon, June 4th 2011, surrounded by close family in his home. He lived a long and good life. He was born September 17, 1917 in Rockford, IL the son of William J. & Anna (Peterson) Smith. He was an adventurous spirit who loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and his life's work. Robert was a lifelong tool and die maker, injection molding, machinist, and inventor. He married Jane Ella Spurr on August 19, 1939, in Dubuque, IA. Survivors include his children Lynn (Ellen) Smith, Linda (James) Encheff, Janice Radant, and Glenn (Georgia) Smith; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jane, daughter Jane Pierce and 4-brothers. The family would like to give special thanks to his daughter Linda Encheff for her years of care and also FHN Hospice Care. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton, IL. A private burial will be held at a later date in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Rockford. A memorial fund has been established in his memory.
