Ronald Kevin Meyer , age 63, of Freeport, IL passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025 at home. He was born on January 1, 1962 in Freeport to the late Charles Raymond and Betty (Wachter) Meyer. He married Kandy Murphy on February 28, 1998.

Ron was a 1980 graduate of Stockton High School. He was a plasterer by trade most of his life. He was a member of the local 11 Masonry Union out of Rockford. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. In his younger years, he loved to play baseball. He enjoyed going fishing in Minnesota, watching sports and news, hunting, bowling, and golfing. He loved his family poodle, Rocky.

He is survived by his wife, Kandy Meyer; father-in-law, Kenneth Murphy; step sons, Joshua Murphy and Christopher (Kristi) Murphy; step daughter, Heather (fiancé Robert) Brechler; step grandchildren, Austin Byrne, Cody and Shane Murphy; step brother, Tracy (Lori) Owens; sister, Kathleen (John) Kutzke-Kyle; nieces and nephews, Kevin (April) McPeek, Tonya (Jeff) Aiello, Travis McPeek, Kory (Jamie) Kutzke, Klay (Haley) Kutzke, Kyle Kutzke, Kolin Kutzke, Kody Kutzke, Kadin Kutzke, Keyan Kutzke, Kayleen Kutzke, Tevor (Chelsea) Owens, and Zach (Caitlyn) Owens; his special Aunt, Norma Montgomery; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Wayne Owens; and infant sister, Janet.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Walker Mortuary in Freeport at 12:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. A memorial fund has been established.
